Up to now, patients who need dialysis treatment have been assessed and treated by nephrologists in the specialist health service. Over time, several local health care institutions have introduced teledialysis. This means that patients can receive treatment in their local environment combined with the close follow-up that they need from a nephrologist. IP-based communication is used in the transfer of medical and technical measurements from the dialysis machines in parallel with videoconferencing.
